Questions readers ask

Heat, order, where to begin, and what comes next.

What is the Cape Town Series?

Six novels by Carly Lewis: book-club women's fiction with a romance spine. Each one follows a second-act woman who arrives in Cape Town performing a life that has stopped fitting, and who walks through the same sage-green door in Woodstock, where Miriam Sobukwe has kept a guest book since 1986. The books are Late Harvest, Pressed, Bloom, The Lighthouse Keeper, The Crossing and The Summit.

Where should I start?

Anywhere. Every book stands alone and reads as a complete love story. If you like to begin at the beginning, start with Late Harvest. The last two, The Crossing and The Summit, reward reading in sequence. The reading order page has all six in one place.

Is it romance or women's fiction?

Both, in that order. These are book-club novels about women at a turning point, with a love story running through each one. Every book ends well. That is not a spoiler. It is a promise.

How steamy are the books?

Warm, not explicit. The Lighthouse Keeper is the one closed-door book in the series.

Who are the heroines?

Second-act women, thirty-seven to sixty. Nobody is starting out. Dominique Laurent, 53, an Oscar-winning actress. Elena Vasquez, 44, an Afro-Colombian sommelier. Fatima Al-Rashid, 37, a two-Michelin-star chef. Dr. Amara Okonkwo, 48, a Nigerian marine biologist. Senator Diana Holloway, 56. Dr. Vera Ivanovich, 60, a surgeon.

Where in South Africa are the novels set?

Cape Town and the Western Cape: Sea Point and Stellenbosch (Late Harvest), the Stellenbosch winelands (Pressed), the Bo-Kaap (Bloom), Cape Point (The Lighthouse Keeper), Robben Island (The Crossing) and Table Mountain (The Summit). The door they all walk through is in Woodstock.

Are the books on Kindle Unlimited?

Yes. All six are on Kindle Unlimited from release day. They are also in paperback and hardcover on Amazon.

When do the last two books come out?

The Crossing comes to Kindle on 3 November 2026. The Summit, the series finale, comes to Kindle on 14 February 2027. Both are already available in paperback and hardcover.

Are there content notes?

Grief, estrangement, infidelity and illness are handled on the page. Nothing gratuitous.

Are the books good for book clubs?

They were written for them. Each novel stands alone, so a group can choose any one, and each turns on a woman deciding what her life is for once the performance stops working. There is plenty to talk about.

Who is Miriam Sobukwe?

The woman at the sage-green door. She runs The Nest, a guesthouse on a quiet lane in Woodstock, with rooibos on the stove for forty years. She does not fix anyone. She names what is already true, and she keeps the book by the door.

What comes after the Cape Town Series?

The Dubai Arrangement, six novels beginning with The Merger on 9 March 2027. After Dubai come Lagos, London, Amalfi and Panama. Read about The Dubai Arrangement.
